Who am I ?
I am a qualified teacher and freelance writer working in the Whitehaven/Egremont/Cleator Moor area of Cumbria.
Although currently not teaching I am still working within an educational environment.
I have experience of 1 to 1 tuition in supporting children to achieve their best.
As a writer I have a keen interest in technology and education. Most of this blog will be about education, supply teaching or technology. But occasionally I might go off on a political rant or anything else that suddenly takes my interest.
I have the pleasure to write for the Egremont 2 Day newspaper as well as being one of the volunteer Directors of the company. Working with the E2D team has opened up a whole new sense of community for me. something I think it particularly important in, what can be best described as, unsettling times. At this point I should say that the views expressed in this blog are my own and should not be taken as representative of Egremont 2 Day or any other organisation.
In the past I have also written for Qercus, a computer magazine for the RISC OS operating system, although I’ve done more sub-editing and compiling the letters column recently rather than write articles.
As well as my Masters Degree I have also studied Web Application development with The Open University and completed a basic website design course and a certificate in Computing and Maths. I am currently exploring the courses on offer from FutureLearn including an Introduction to Forensic Science and trying to get my head around the new Primary ICT curriculum. What can I say? I’m one of those mad people who like studying new things!
I currently offer proofreading, editing and freelance writing services as well as tutoring all subjects in the primary age range (Key Stage 1 and 2) including SAT preparation or just general tutoring to improve subject knowledge for older children.
I am also able to support adult learners improve their confidence, skills and knowledge in:
If you want me to help write something or provide tuition then feel free to send me a message and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
